How old is my washing machine?

The manufacture date is often encoded in a serial number or production code, but the exact rule depends on the brand. Appliance Age Checker applies only rules that can be used with confidence.

Check your washing machine

Choose the manufacturer and enter the number from the rating plate.

Where to find the number

On a washing machine, the rating label is commonly found inside the door opening or door frame; on top loaders, under the lid or around the tub rim. Look for a field marked Serial, S/N, FD, or a similar production identifier.

Serial number or FD number?

Bosch, Siemens and NEFF commonly use an FD production number for dating. Most other manufacturers use a serial number. The checker changes the requested field automatically when you choose the brand.

Why some numbers do not return a year

A serial number may contain date information without uniquely identifying the year. Some codes repeat after a number of years, while other manufacturers use different formats for different factories or product ranges. If the exact year cannot be determined from the number, the checker says so rather than asking you to guess.

Useful when buying or repairing

Knowing the production year can help when comparing a second hand seller's description, deciding whether a repair is sensible, or identifying the correct documentation for an older appliance. It is not a substitute for proof of purchase or warranty records.
