How old is my RCA appliance?
GE Appliances publishes a historic RCA date code table. RCA appliances in that system use the first two serial letters for month and year.
Check your RCA appliance
Select your appliance type and enter the serial number from the rating label.
Open the RCA age checkerWhat number do I need?
For RCA, the checker asks for the Serial number. The number is printed on the appliance rating plate or data label. Its exact location depends on the appliance type.
- Washing machines and dryers: usually inside the door opening or around the frame.
- Dishwashers: often along the top or side edge of the open door.
- Ovens: usually around the frame visible when the door is open.
- Fridges and freezers: commonly on an inside side wall or near the drawers.
Can the manufacture year be determined?
For supported serial formats, this checker can return a manufacture year and usually the production month or week.
The checker deliberately separates a manufacture date from a purchase date. A machine can sit in distribution or retail stock before it is sold.
Why the checker may refuse a number
Manufacturers can change serial formats across countries, factories, model ranges and time periods. A number that does not match a verified rule is not treated as evidence of a specific age. In that situation the checker gives a clear “Age can’t be determined from this number for this brand” result.
